Hue Jackson figured there was no way the Cleveland Browns were going to lose. Not on a 59-yard field goal in overtime. The coach was surprised the Tampa Bay Buccaneers even gave Chandler Catanzaro the opportunity, risking giving his team a shot to win with time running down in the extra period."I said there was no way he'd make that, and he did," Jackson said Sunday. "So they won."The longest ever kick in OT barely cleared the cross bar, ending Tampa Bay's three-game losing streak.Catanzaro missed an extra point in the first half and watched a potential game-winning 40-yard field goal sail wide right on the final play of regulation."I stuck to my same routine. The most important thing is not to try to change things too much," Catanzaro said. "I know I just left the first kick out there a little bit to the right, and I just needed to trust it. So, that's what I told myself."The Bucs recovered Jabrill Peppers' fumble on a punt return near midfield, and Jameis Winston shrugged off sacks on consecutive plays before throwing 14 yards to DeSean Jackson to give Catanzaro a chance to win it.The kicker was confident he would redeem himself."I think it's part of my DNA. I've always kind of found a way to bounce back," Catanzaro said. "I rarely miss two in a row. Even if it's from 59, I was just looking for a shot. If it was from 66, I would have tried it."Baker Mayfield rallied the Browns (2-4-1) from a 14-point deficit, using Nick Chubb's 1-yard TD and a 16-yard scoring throw to Jarvis Landry to pull even. The No. 1 overall draft pick completed 23 of 34 passes for 215 yards, two TDs and no interceptions. The Browns defense scored a safety, forced four turnovers and sacked Winston four times. It wasn't quite enough to get Cleveland over the hump in its fourth overtime game of the season."It's very frustrating any time you lose, especially because you could have done a lot of things better. That seems to be the moral of the season," Mayfield said, adding that he also was surprised the Bucs went for the 59-yarder at the end."I'm thinking if he doesn't make it, we're getting the ball at midfield, we have less than 20 yards until our kicker is in comfortable reaching distance," the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner said. "That's a great kick. You don't see that very often."Some things to know about the Browns and Buccaneers:WORKING OTCleveland has played four overtime games this season 鈥?most for a team since Arizona won all four it played in 2011, and tied for second-most in NFL history. The record is five in a season, set by Green Bay in 1983.The Browns, 1-2-1 in OT this year, don't have a road victory since winning in overtime at Baltimore on Oct. 11, 2015.The Detroit Lions also dropped 24 in a row away from home from 2001-03.The next opportunity to end the skid is next Sunday at Pittsburgh.BETTER 'DTampa Bay stopped a three-game losing streak that cost former defensive coordinator Mike Smith his job last week. The Bucs entered Sunday allowing a league-worst 34.6 points per game, ranked 31st in total defense, and dead last against the pass. They sacked Mayfield five times and allowed a season-low 305 yards in their debut under Smith's replacement, former linebackers coach Mark Duffner."Every win is different, but this one felt good," defensive end Carl Nassib said.INCREASED WORKLOADCleveland's decision to trade leading rusher Carolos Hyde to Jacksonville for a fifth-round draft choice was driven by a desire to give rookie Nick Chubb more touches and also get Duke Johnson, one of the team's top playmakers, more involved.Chubb, who came in averaging 10.8 yards per carry, finished with 80 yards rushing on 18 attempts. He was targeted twice on passes, but did not have a catch."I thought he did well," Jackson said, noting the rookie also had one big gainer called back because of one of 14 penalties assessed the Browns."We had way too many penalties ... offensively and defensively," the coach said. "We have got to get that squared away."FAMOUS JAMEISWinston completed 32 of 52 passes for 365 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in his first home start since returning from serving a three-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct penalty. He also led the Bucs in rushing with 55 yards on 10 attempts, including a 14-yard TD run to make it 16-2 midway through the second quarter."It's huge to get a big win, especially here (at home)," Winston said. "This is a tough league, so you get a win any way you possibly can get it. We can play better, especially myself. But when you win, everything is better." Custom Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jerseys

Fantasy tip: Browns may double-team Jones, which could free Ridley to have big day against banged-up Browns secondary.Haslams continue unwavering support for Hue Jackson There have been two constants for the Cleveland Browns since Jimmy and Dee Haslam purchased the team in the fall of 2012.One is the constant losing that bottomed out with the Browns going 1-31 the past two seasons. (At least Browns fans hope that was the bottom.)The other is the Haslams’ annual insistence that they have learned from their past mistakes and that the times are finally changing for the better. That was on full display on Saturday, when the Haslams met with the media at training camp and said that, as far as they are concerned, no one should hold the past two seasons against head coach Hue Jackson. As Jimmy Haslam told ohio.com:Oh boy!We have to give the Haslams credit for not placing an arbitrary win total on whether or not Jackson becomes the first Browns head coach since Romeo Crennel to see a fourth season with the team. There are too many unpredictables throughout the course of an NFL season to put a hard number on a win total. But it continues to be baffling how the Haslams seem willing to absolve Jackson of any complicity in what went on the past two seasons. Not to dive to deeply into it, but it is well documented that Jackson’s fingerprints are all over the quarterback mess and that he continually undermined the previous front office. There is also 32 games worth of evidence that highlight Jackson’s deficiencies in clock management, play calling and overall awareness during games. The Haslams enable it all by having an organizational structure in place where both the head coach and the general manager report directly to them, meaning the last person in the room with them has the advantage in disagreements. (Although it is hard to see Jackson trying to pull an end around on general manager John Dorsey the way he did last fall with the trade attempt for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback A.J. McCarron.)There is no question the talent on the roster is better than it was a year ago, which automatically puts pressure on Jackson and the coaching staff to find a way to post a few wins this fall. While it can’t be just about the final record www.clevelandbrownsteamonline.com , the Haslams do have to determine some criteria for evaluating Jackson once the season is over. Playing close games is nice, winning is even better, but there has to be a tangible way to figure this all out after the final whistle.Because if the Haslams keep doing what they have always done, it is hard to see how Browns fans can truly believe the franchise has finally turned a corner. nflshopoutlet.com

FanPulse: 97% of Browns fans are very or somewhat

Erstellt 10.01.2019 08:49 von linhui95 10.01.2019 08:49 In der Kategorie Investments.

confident in direction of team Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse http://www.thebrownsfootballauthentic.com/trevon-coley-jersey-authentic , a survey of fans across the NFL powered by SurveyMonkey. Each week, we send 32 polls to 100+ plugged in fans from each team. Browns fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse. If you recall, a couple weeks ago, we asked our readers to join FanPulse, so you can weigh in on the direction of the team each week. For those who are apprehensive about signing up, the poll literally took me 20 seconds to answer all 3 questions presented this week. The answers everyone provided in the Week 1 poll are below! Will the Browns win or lose in Week 1?The Steelers are currently favored by 4.5 points, but Browns fans think Cleveland will win by a field goal. If that’s the case, then you should definitely bet the spread this weekend.I will post my official prediction for the game on Saturday. Given all of the positive press the Browns have received this offseason, how they were portrayed on Hard Knocks, and how the Steelers will be without Le’Veon Bell, I’m a little surprised the optimism didn’t extend to beyond 3 points. However, I do have to keep reminding myself that Pittsburgh was a 13-3 team in 2017.Photo by Jason Miller/Getty ImagesHow confident are you in the direction of the team?Very confident: 48 percentSomewhat confident: 49 percentMeh: 1 percentNot very confident: 1 percentNot confident at all: 0 percent—Fans are certainly in favor of the franchise right now, but their record is 0-0. If they start off 0-2 against the Steelers and Saints, how quickly will things turn south because Hue Jackson is still in charge? What is the worst NFL rule? This is the one poll asked to Browns fans that actually ended up being aggregated across all 32 sites. My first instinct was to vote for the helmet rule Womens Darren Fells Jersey , but then I thought about it, and I don’t actually think it will be flagged very often during the regular season. I voted for the “fumbling out of bounds in end zone results in a turnover” rule. That always drives me nuts — why not just put the ball back to the 1 or 2 yard line, or wherever the ball was fumbled at? It just deflates a whole drive, and not in a “oh, the defense deserved that reward” type of way. Browns coach Hue Jackson knew if he complained about Sunday's officiating he could be fined. The NFL is always watching and listening. He may soon be writing a check to Commissioner Roger Goodell.Still smarting after Cleveland's road losing streak reached 22 consecutive games with an overtime loss at Oakland, Jackson was asked Monday if he was satisfied the officials had correctly spotted the ball in the closing minutes on a critical measurement that was overturned by a replay review."There are a lot of things that I am not satisfied about," he said.Jackson then clicked off a few."The kicking of the football down the field right next to the official, the sack-fumble on a quarterback ... Do you guys want me to keep going?" he asked reporters. "The spot. It goes on and on and on. We have to do a better job of being in control of it, not the officials being in control of it."Although Jackson didn't solely lay the 45-42 loss to the Raiders on the refs, there's no denying that some questionable calls that went against the Browns (1-2-1) led to another heartbreaking loss. The Browns appeared to pick up a game-sealing first down 鈥?and were poised to win rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield's first start 鈥?with 1:38 left in regulation as running back Carlos Hyde gained 2 yards on third-and-2.But replay official Billy Smith ruled Hyde was short of the marker and overturned the conversion. The Browns were forced to punt and the Raiders wound up tying the score and winning in OT on a 29-yard field goal.Even by Cleveland standards, this one hurt.Jackson, though, came away feeling encouraged by his young team. The Browns overcame a litany of their own mistakes and were in position to win before their defense crumbled at the end of regulation. The losses keep mounting for Jackson, now 0-18 on the road and 2-33-1 during his two-plus seasons in Cleveland. But he's convinced these Browns are not the old Browns."We have never been this close since I have been here, not as close as we have been in these four weeks Youth Duke Johnson Jr Jersey ," he said."There have been some games (in past years) where I think that we played as well as we could play and had a chance to win and make a play down the stretch. This team feels different. This team is more talented. I do not think that there is any remains of the past teams."The league stood by its ruling, with a spokesman saying several camera angles were used to clarify Hyde's elbow hit the ground short of the first down."From the line feed, you can see the line to gain is just past the 19-yard line," the spokesman said. "One replay angle shows the wrist and the elbow hit the ground simultaneously."The debatable calls aside, the Browns continue to be plagued by familiar problems. They're committing too many penalties and special teams have been special in name only. But unlike the past two seasons, Jackson said there's no sense of doom on the sideline during games, no feeling that things will go from bad to worse."I do not get the sense of what I felt before down there," he said. "I get the sense that this is a team that is really starting to come together and understand how close they are. Now what they have to do is go finish those things."It's not a stretch to think the Browns could be 3-1 or even 4-0. But a blocked field goal in the opener against Pittsburgh and several missed kicks at New Orleans cost them two wins before they blew a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter Sunday and were swallowed up in the Black Hole. They have to learn to finish, and center JC Tretter believes the Browns are learning while taking a few more lumps."We have a lot of grit on this team," he said. "Even last year, you saw it. Obviously, last year we were not able to get any wins, but we never stopped fighting no matter what the circumstances were during the game, and I think that mentality has carried over. Now with the added talent and experience, that effort late in games you can come back from almost anything."We lost our 14-point lead http://www.thebrownsfootballauthentic.com/derrick-kindred-jersey-authentic , and those are sometimes tougher to bounce back from after you have it and you lose it. Just that we kept plugging along and kept pushing, and obviously, we come back. There is no quit and there is no rolling over on this team."NOTES: Jackson said rookie RB Nick Chubb needs more touches after scoring on TD runs of 63 and 41 yards. "I watched those two touchdowns on tape today, and they were even better than they were on the field," he said. ... CB Terrance Mitchell underwent surgery on his broken right wrist and will be sidelined indefinitely. Jackson is optimistic Mitchell will return at some point this season. ... Jackson said he never considered trying to going for it on fourth down after Hyde's run was overturned. "It did not enter my mind," he said. ... Despite Mayfield's four turnovers, Jackson liked how his rookie QB played. "I did not see any blink in Baker on any of those things," Jackson said. "That is what was very pleasing to me. I get a chance to look in his eyes, and he did not flinch. Matter of fact, he was like, 'Come on guys, let's go.'"

He also got his hands on a punt which helped set up a two-minute drill right before halftime. With Hill lost for the year and Michel still limited in practice after missing three weeks worth of training camp practices due to a knee injury Womens Jeremy Hill Jersey , the Patriots might opt to bring another running back in to bolster the rotation. The New England Patriots fell on their face for the second straight week and there’s not much more to break down. What was terrible against the Jacksonville Jaguars remained bad against the Detroit Lions.Rob Gronkowski couldn’t get open against the double teams and no one else on offense was able to beat their one-on-ones. The run blocking was sub-par and the rushing attack left much to be desired. Oh http://www.thepatriotsfootballauthentic.com/ryan-allen-jersey-authentic , and Tom Brady made some dumb throws.Nothing went right on defense. I think that covers it?So let’s look at the big picture. What’s the biggest problem at each positional group? Are there any solutions around the corner? Can this team be fixed?Alec and Rich cover it all. This podcast is available in the iTunes store, Stitcher, TuneIn, BluBrry, and via RSS Feed. Please subscribe and comment on what you want to hear about in future podcasts!Putting Sony Michel’s performance into context following the Patriots’ loss in Detroit It may be sagging a bit, but the sky isn’t falling in Foxborough.Collecting back-to-back double digit losses for the first time since a forgettable 2002 season certainly stings a bit — and it should. Tallying just 209 yards and 10 points on 47 plays against a Detroit defense — a unit that, in the previous two weeks, allowed a combined 78 points to the Jets and 49ers, and was without its best pass rusher on Sunday — fails to inspire even a modicum of confidence. There is no shortage of deserved criticism that could (and will) be doled out following a debacle like Sunday night’s performance at Ford Field. The Patriots were thoroughly lambasted in the trenches on both sides of the football, the oft-chastised wide receiver group lived up to its lackluster billing, and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels — clearly hampered by a combination of the first two — resorted to a conservative, timid plan of attack. One place where blame should not be placed Youth Stephen Gostkowski Jersey , however, is with first round pick Sony Michel. When discarding Tom Brady’s quick two-yard first down plunge on New England's first drive of the third quarter, Michel was handed the football on each of the team’s 14 scheduled run plays until their final drive, where James White received four carries while the clock was being extinguished. The former Georgia Bulldog accumulated just 50 yards on the ground, and he corralled just one of his two catchable targets for a loss of a yard while dropping the other to set up a third-and-long situation on a critical third quarter drive.Training wheelsGiven that Sunday night’s contest was essentially Michel’s second “preseason” game after the rookie went under the knife in the first week of August to relieve some swelling in a knee, it should come as no surprise that McDaniels has been intent on keeping things extremely simple for him. But that simplicity is coming at the behest of making any attempt to disguise what the offense is running.Of Michel’s 33 snaps (36 before penalties) over the first two weeks, he was handed the football on the ground 23 times and targeted in the passing game five times. That’s an 85% touch rate. What’s even more peculiar is the fact that, of those 33 plays, just one was run out of 11-personnel (one RB, one TE, three WRs), meaning the rookie is having to learn and adapt to NFL game speed with limited space to operate as the Patriots’ 12 Youth Julian Edelman Jersey , 21, and 22-personnel packages and formations continue drawing stacked-box after stacked-box. Here’s the breakdown of the packages the Patriots have used with Sony Michel on the field, and their corresponding yardage per play:21-personnel (w/ James Develin): 13 plays (39.39% of Michel’s snaps) — 4.0 yards per play12-personnel: 11 plays — 33% of Michel’s snaps — 3.64 yards per play22-personnel (w/ James Develin): 5 plays — 15.15% of Michel’s snaps — 1.6 yards per play13-personnel: 2 plays — 6.06% of Michel’s snaps — 3.5 yards per play11-personnel: 1 play — 3.03% of Michel’s snaps — 3 yards21-personnel (w/ two RBs): 1 play — 3.03% of Michel’s snaps — -1 yardWhy McDaniels would be telegraphing the offense’s intentions with such regularity? It very well could be that, given the lack of dynamic outside personnel, and coupled with a continually nicked-up Rex Burkhead, the Patriots see no reason to take the “training wheels” off their rookie ball carrier until the offense has a chance to develop further — a process that is now seemingly reliant on the performances of new addition Josh Gordon a veteran Julian Edelman.Drive killersWhere Michel garnered the most unwarranted criticism on Sunday evening was in the short yardage department. Down by two scores in the second quarter, the offense had two drives stall on third-and-one carries that yielded a total loss of three yards, forcing a punt and a field goal try from just inside the red zone. The first run stuff, courtesy of former Patriot Ricky Jean Francois:The second run stuff on third and one came after a three-yard run by Michel that could’ve developed further, but Dwayne Allen failed to lay a finger on his assignment, Tavon Wilson, and the offense was forced into a third down. The Patriots immediately hurried to the line and snapped it again Youth Rob Gronkowski Jersey , this time running off tackle right: Tough to fault the running back, or the play call, when all that needs to happen for a first down to be gained is for Dwayne Allen to not get completely worked over by a safety he outweighs by roughly 50 pounds. Credit also needs to be given to Matt Patricia’s defense, as they were completely prepared for a hurry up maneuver than the Patriots have been catching teams flat-footed with for years.TraitsAlthough Sony Michel is being tasked with (and should continue to be) filling much of the void left behind by Dion Lewis, there should not be any confusion about how different his style and skill set is. It’s also important to take into account just how much information Michel is having to process and react to at the moment. There are few places where the term “life comes at you fast” is more applicable than in the NFL, and when considering the aforementioned context, Michel is appears to be right on track in the progress department. The key aspect to monitor with rookies early on who are assimilating to the chaos of the NFL game is whether or not they are carrying over the positive traits from college that got them drafted. For Sony Michel, according to NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein, a few of those traits include:Flashing acceleration to climb past linebackers and onto safeties quicklyHas good burst after cutsUnderstands the art of setting up lead blockers and pulling guardsDecisive runner who rarely takes unnecessary losses by trying to be the heroExcellent in blitz pickupFrom the small sample size we’ve seen from Michel so far, he has flashed signs of most of these traits.Of course, there are certainly areas where a learning curve has presented itself — particularly in the passing game. According to Zierlein, the rookie was “serviceable as pass catcher Womens Elandon Roberts Jersey , but (had) issues catching it cleanly” at Georgia. With so much happening early on in Michel’s transition to the NFL, and him having missed out on so much critical time in camp that could’ve led to an increased chemistry with Tom Brady and other offensive personnel, it’s understandable that his performance out of the backfield in the passing attack has been the slowest component to develop. But given the fact that he caught 64 passes for 621 yards and six touchdowns during his four years in Athens,GA, there’s no doubt that skill set is there. The Patriots will (if they haven’t already) swiftly move past Sunday night’s objectionable display. As their process of continual roster development and schematic refinement rolls onward through the final days of September and into the season’s defining stretch, it’s clear that when it comes to rookie Sony Michel and his future role as a dynamic play maker in their attack, they’ve really just scratched the surface.Follow Brian Phillips on Twitter @BPhillips_SB

While the New England Patriots offense appears

Erstellt 10.01.2019 08:14 von linhui95 10.01.2019 08:14 In der Kategorie Investments.

to have finally hit its groove David Andrews Jersey , the team’s defense continues to be a work in progress. Today, the unit will have its next chance to fully get back on track and finally display some of the consistency that it has lacked over the first six games of the year. Standing in its way is a Chicago Bears team that is using plenty of the same concepts last week’s opponent – the Kansas City Chiefs, who scored 40 points against New England – likes to run but without quite the same firepower. That being said, the Patriots cannot afford to take the Bears lightly and need to make sure that the following is doneChallenge Mitchell Trubisky’s decision makingLast week against Kansas City, the Patriots had a productive first half and a big reason for that was the defense’s ability to make life hard for second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes. New England used diverse pre-snap looks and fake blitzes time and again to challenge the talented but relatively inexperienced passer in terms of his reads and decision making. While Mahomes adapted nicely at times and made plenty of terrific plays, this approach also led to two takeaways and helped the Patriots keep one of the NFL’s best defenses off rhythm. Fast forward to this week and the Patriots will face another player similar to Mahomes: the Bears’ Mitchell Trubisky comes with more starting experience but is still a player that can be challenged by odd formations or rarely seen coverage concepts.New England should therefore use a similar approach as it used last week to try to make the former first-round draft pick feel uncomfortable in the pocket even without necessarily having to generate plenty of pressure up front. It worked against Bears head coach Matt Nagy’s former pupil, it might work against his new one as well. Nevertheless, the Patriots need to make life as hard as possible for Trubisky.Be disciplined against option playsAs noted last week, Kansas City likes to regularly use the run-pass-option to put its explosive players in a position to succeed. The concept, which allows the quarterback to either hand the football off after the snap or keep it to pass depending on the movements of the defense, is also a staple of Chicago’s attack: the Bears Elandon Roberts Jersey , coached by former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, also use RPOs more often than the average NFL team.New England therefore again needs to be disciplined against such plays. The linebackers in particular will be challenged by RPO concepts and other option plays the Bears like to run – like a read option that allows the quarterback to keep the football and advance it himself as a runner. Last week, the group faired pretty well in such situations and it again needs to stay patient and not give away its hand too early to allow Trubisky to regularly make the correct reads.Get on the same page in the secondaryVersus the Chiefs, the New England defense tied a season-high by giving up six plays of more than 20 yards. Four of those gains happened on passes – which is not unexpected when going against a highly explosive offense like Kansas City’s but still troublesome from the Patriots’ defensive perspective. After all, the team again faces a group of offensive skill position players this week that has a knack for making big plays down the field and a passer that is not afraid to target them.It is therefore imperative for the Patriots’ defense – particularly the secondary – to be on the same page when it comes to stopping talented wide receivers like Allen Robinson II and Taylor Gabriel, or running back Tarik Cohen and tight end Trey Burton. Together, the four form a quartet similar to the one the Chiefs presented last week: Robinson II and Gabriel are reminiscent of Sammy Watkins and Tyreek Hill, Cohen of Kareem Hunt, and Burton of Travis Kelce. And even though the Chiefs’ group is a notch above Chicago’s, the New England defense needs to be on top of its game to slow it down. One way to do that is by taking away the big play down the field, and having solid communication and displaying sound play diagnosis in the defensive back end – unlike on two long touchdowns last week – will be important yet again to make it happen.Patriots sign former first round WR Corey Coleman and veteran WR Bennie Fowler The New England Patriots filled two of their three open roster spots on Tuesday morning with the addition of wide receivers Corey Coleman and Bennie Fowler. The Patriots signed former Cleveland Browns first round pick Corey Coleman to a 1-year deal Shaq Mason Jersey , per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, in what is an incredibly low-risk, high-reward opportunity. The 5’11, 194 pound third-year receiver has blazing fast speed and is extremely explosive, but he hasn’t been able to combine his undeniable athleticism with any sort of production in the NFL.In two years with the Browns, Coleman collected 56 receptions for 718 yards and 5 touchdowns and added 2 rushes for 10 yards. His has previous experience as both a kick and punt returner in college.Coleman’s considered a pure deep threat and he joins the Patriots in a similar position to Phillip Dorsett last season. Dorsett had a small role with the team and seems to be on the verge of emerging in his second year. Perhaps Coleman can find a similar place with the Patriots.New England also signed former Broncos and Bears slot receiver Bennie Fowler, per ESPN’s Field Yates. The 6’1, 212 pound veteran has 698 career receiving yards and 5 touchdowns on 56 receptions and also provides value as a punt returner and core special teams player.Look for both Coleman and Fowler to get some time to adjust to the Patriots offense before they become a big part of the game plan, with Fowler more likely to play immediately because of his special teams ability. They can be considered immediate replacements for Riley McCarron on the active roster.

Giants vs. Patriots: Snap counts for players on the roster bubble

Erstellt 10.01.2019 08:04 von linhui95 10.01.2019 08:04 In der Kategorie Investments.

The New York Giants have until 4 p.m. ET Saturday to trim their roster from 90 men down to 53.This likely won’t be their “final” roster Color Rush Curtis Riley Jersey , as they will work the waiver wire and potentially sign some recently released veterans. The next 30 (or so) hours will be tense ones for the playerswho find themselves on the roster bubble. We don’t yet know the thought trends and thought processes of the Giants’ new regime, but perhaps we can get some clues from how many snaps those bubble players got against the New England PatriotsOffenseChris Scott (G) - The team apparently wanted a close look at guard Chris Scott. Scott quietly played each and every one of the Giants’ 78 offensive snaps Thursday night. The team is trying to figure out their depth chart behind the starting offensive line and whether they will need to search for options. Scott is a veteran player at 31 years old and familiar to Dave Gettleman from his time with the Carolina Panthers. In playing 100 percent of the Giants’ snaps, the coaches might have hinted that Scott is serious competition for John Jerry as a back-up interior lineman. Chad Wheeler (OT) and Nick Becton (OT) - Wheeler was signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of USC in 2017. He is in a competition with Becton for the job of swing tackle. The Giants played both players at both left tackle and right tackle in the first half of the game. Wheeler saw slightly more snaps than Becton, 35 snaps to 32. Becton would likely have played more, but left the game with an ankle injury.Evan Brown (C) - Veteran guard John Greco was way down the list for snaps, getting just 19 total snaps between guard and center. The Giants might be looking at Brown as an emergency back-up to Greco at the center position, possibly eyeing him for a spot on the practice squad.Wide Receivers - The wide receiver depth chart behind Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard, and Cody Latimer remains cloudy at best. Jawill Davis lead the wide receiver group with 32 snaps, getting 6 targets, hauling in three for 32 yards. Kalif Raymond saw the most targets with 7 (1 catch) in his 18 offensive snaps. Behind Davis were Alonzo Russell with 29 snaps (4 targets, 3 receptions, 24 yards, 1 TD), Marquis Bundy with 26 targets (1 target, 1 reception Youth Odell Beckham Jr Jersey , 19 yards), and Travis Rudolph with 26 receptions (3 targets, 3 receptions for 30 yards). Preseason sensation Amba Etta-Tawo was on the field for 24 snaps (2 targets, 1 reception for 41 yards and a touchdown). Roger Lewis brought up the rear in that group, with 19 offensive snaps, and was targeted just once. However, Lewis also showed the most special teams upside of the receivers (save Raymond), with more than double the special teams snaps of any other receiver at 12, and showing up with a big tackle on a return.Jhurell Pressley (RB) - Jalen Simmons got the most snaps among the running backs with 36 snaps, but once again Pressley might have flashed the brightest with his work on the field. Though Pressley has only been with the Giants for two weeks, he made the most of his opportunity, including his 23 snaps against the Patriots. Pressley is clearly athletic with impressive agility, explosiveness, speed, quickness, and balance through contact. He also runs very hard and is a handful for defenders to bring down. Whether he has done enough to force the Giants to keep him at the expense of another player or risk exposing him to the waiver wire remains to be seen.Defense Donte Deayon (CB) - Perhaps unsurprisingly Color Rush Patrick Omameh Jersey , the Giants wanted to get an extended look at Deayon after he missed time with a hamstring injury with 61 defensive snaps (91 percent). Before the injury, Deayon picking off the Giants’ quarterbacks became a daily occurance. Thursday night, he snagged two interceptions with a third slipping through his arms (which still counted as a pass defensed), in addition to a fourth pass defensed three tackles. He made the most of his opportunity. Grant Haley (CB) - Haley was second among Giants’ defenders with 59 snaps (88 percent). Haley and Deayon are vying for the same spot as a reserve cornerback. The undrafted free agent was solid in coverage and showed the physicality that has become his trademark. Tae Davis (LB) - Davis has been running behind Ray-Ray Armstrong on the depth chart, and that is unlikely to change. But the Giants seemed to want to get a good look at the safety turned linebacker and gave him 51 snaps (76 percent) on defense, as well as 11 special teams snaps. Davis played well as the moneybacker and outside linebacker in nickel situations, using his athleticism to fly around the field. The Giants have struggled with coverage over the middle, and adding another undersized, but athletic, linebacker with coverage skills could be attractive.William Gay (FS) - Gay was signed as a veteran free agent to man the slot corner, but as training camp progressed, he was moved to the free safety position. After barely playing against the Detroit Lions, Gay saw his playing time climb back up against the New York Jets and now the Patriots. Gay was on the field for 30 snaps Thursday night — though fans watching at home might be forgiven for not noticing him, as Bettcher frequently had him lining up so deep he was rarely on screen. The Giants seem to want a free safety with a cornerback’s skillset. Andrew Adams (S) - Adams made his mark as an undrafted free agent who stepped up to man the free safety position after Darian Thompson was lost to injury in 2016. The current Giants’ regime seems to think of Adams as more of a strong safety and he has been behind both Curtis Riley and Gay at free safety. Adams got 24 snaps with the defense in the second half, coming up with a big tackle. Unfortunately, he also playing a major role in both of the Patriots touchdowns when he bit hard on play action and was drawn far out of position. New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur said Tuesday that the trade of Eli Apple to the New Orleans Saints does not signal that the Giants have given up on this season.“That’s not the narrative – throwing in the towel. I think if you remember back Color Rush Nate Solder Jersey , Eli (Apple) was out with injury when we beat Houston. Then, (CB) B.W. Webb played in his spot against two fine receivers,” Shurmur said. “We’re not throwing in the towel. This will give an opportunity for some young players and newer players to have an opportunity to play.”Shurmur was asked about balancing short- and long-term goals.“There’s no balancing act in my mind. I’m worried about the team today, and what we need to do to get ready to play Washington,” he said. “There’s no balance there, but I’m always a part of the discussions as we work to get the roster the way it’s going to be this week, and certainly thinking about the future.”Around the Inter-GoogleNew York Giants are a perfect candidate for a blowtorch in this lost seasonNew York Giants coach Pat Shurmur may not want to talk about a complete rebuild, but this team is a perfect candidate for a blowtorch.Giants are going to lose the race to the NFL's basement, too | Politi | NJ.comSorry, fans hoping for the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but they aren't the worst team in the league -- and it's not really close.New York Giants offensive line has a small piece of good news after Monday night's disasterNew York Giants offensive line played better in the second half of their ugly loss to the Atlanta Falcons, for whatever that's worth.Giants QB Eli Manning on trade rumors: 'It's hard to imagine being with another organization' | NFL | Sporting News

Giants vs. Saints halftime score: Giants down 12 - 7 at the half

Erstellt 10.01.2019 07:56 von linhui95 10.01.2019 07:56 In der Kategorie Investments.

The New York Giants trail 12-7 against the New Orleans Saints at the half. The Giants drew first blood Youth Will Hernandez Jersey , with Eli Manning completing six of his first seven passes, marching the Giants 75 yards on their first possession, which capped with a 2-yard touchdown reception for Sterling Shepard. The Giants’ defense stayed strong, with B.J. Hill getting his second sack of the season and holding the Saints to a pair of field goals on their next two drives. The game ground to a halt as the officials allowed the Saints to kick a field goal after the clock expired on the first quarter, forcing the teams to trade ends of the field and the Saints to kick it again. The next drive the refs threw a flag on a Janoris Jenkins tackle of Alvin Kamara, believing the wrap-up tackle to be a horse-collar. The Giants’ next drive started well with Wayne Gallman in at running back. Until, that is, Manning found him for a reception, which was quickly jarred loose by a big hit from the Saints’ defense. Second year cornerback Marshon Latimore recovered the ball, with the touchdown only saved by Eli Manning. While it could have proven costly, the defense held firm and held the Saints to a third field goal.Notable stats at the half Eli Manning: 12-16, 61 yards Youth B.J. Hill Jersey , 1 touchdown, 1 tackleSterling Shepard: 3 rec, 14 yards, 1 touchdownWayne Gallman: 3 rec, 17 yards, 2 carries, 6 yards, fumbleSaquon Barkley 1 rec, 7 yards, 5 carries, 21 yardsThe Giants will get the ball to start the second half. Use this as your open thread for the half. There was a lot to talk about coming out of the New York Giants’ 23-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night, but perhaps the biggest of which was Pat Shurmur’s decision to go for two after the Giants scored a touchdown to trail by eight. The conversion failed Youth Saquon Barkley Jersey , but it was the right call. Shurmur defended the decision in the post-game press conference by saying the Giants had previously had internal discussions on the math of going for two in that situation. It’s one of the most obvious places to go for two but has largely been ignored. There’s also not even a super complicated reason behind it.Let’s start with the simplest math to explain going for it. Two-point conversions are around a 50-50 shot. If you convert the first attempt, an extra point on your next touchdown gives you the lead with a PAT. Failing on the conversion gives you still a 50-50 chance at converting after the second touchdown to tie the game, a place you would be anyway if you had kicked the extra point after the first touchdown. But if you add those probabilities together, it’s a move that works 50 percent of the time (conversion on the first attempt), comes out neutral (a failure then conversion for a tie) 25 percent of the time, and fails completely (two failures) just 25 percent of the time. Those are good odds. Here is Shurmur’s post-game explanation for the decision:“You increase your chances by 50-percent if you go for it and make it there, so that’s what you do. Because then if you score a touchdown, we just kick the extra point and win\,” he said. “I felt good about the two-point play. You guys saw that, I think we got the ball in there, right? And we just didn’t connect on it. And again, I think it’s an aggressive approach. I’m going to take myself back to the one game we didn’t use timeouts before the halftime. I told you I’d never do that again http://www.authenticsnewyorkgiants.com/cheap-rhett-ellison-jersey , and I think from a head coaching perspective, I want to be aggressive for our guys.”We should also not the Giants did successfully convert on their second two-point try that would have tied the game if not for the 56-yard field goal allowed on the following drive. A defensive stand is a must in either scenario. In the grand scheme of things, the advantage of a team being down by six points is much bigger than the disadvantage of being down by eight points late in the game. Being down six gives a clear path for a win, while the other options are only to play for a tie. All teams should do this more often, but especially a team like the Giants, who as an underdog, should take as many scoring opportunities they can get on the road to shorten the game. Pushing the game into overtime gives the Giants a much smaller chance to actually win than a successful two-point conversion down by eight. It’s an important distinction of trying to improve chances to win instead of possibly delay losing. It was just two weeks ago when this discussion first arose when Doug Pederson and the Philadelphia Eagles went for two after going down eight against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5. The Eagles converted, but two drives later allowed a field goal and ultimately lost 23-21 after a late touchdown — again a defensive stand is needed no matter the go or not go decision. It’s worth wondering if the Giants had these internal conversations about the math around this situation earlier in the season or if Pederson and the Eagles are what sparked it. Either way, it’s a smart conversation to have and the fact Shurmur listened and defended the process after the game even though it didn’t work is a good sign for his decision making going forward.

predictions against the point spread

Week 5 picks http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/patrick-omameh-jersey , [NOTE: Use this as your open thread to discuss today’s non-Giants action.]Last week’s picks got back over .500 (barely), but the season is still below that line. I found I’m apparently much better at picking the probabilities of winners, per FiveThirtyEight’s forecasting game, where I’m in the 85th percentile among pickers. The gap there doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, either. Two more teams — the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers — are on byes this week.Remember these picks are strictly for fun and entertainment purposes and please for your sake do not take these picks as gambling advice. Lines used here come from the Westgate Las Vegas via OddsShark. Home team in CAPS.NEW ENGLAND (-10.5) over IndianapolisThe Colts will be missing T.Y. Hilton, Marlon Mack, and Jack Doyle among others on Thursday night. The Patriots will be getting back Julian Edelman from a four-game suspension a week after a 38-7 blowout of the Miami Dolphins. Indianapolis’s defense is not remotely close to the pushover it was expected to be — the Colts are currently 10th in defensive DVOA — but it’s going to be hard for the team to keep it close against the Patriots in Foxborough.UPDATE: New England’s 38-24 victory on Thursday night got my week off to a good start.KANSAS CITY (-3) over JacksonvilleEach team’s strengths mirror the other’s in the matchup. The Chiefs have one of the league’s best offense, while the Jaguars have one of the league’s best defenses. Surprisingly Jacksonville is only 23rd in DVOA against opposing No. 1 receivers, but that’s not likely to continue throughout the season. One weakness Kansas City can exploit is Jacksonville’s struggle against tight ends — 17th in DVOA.Atlanta (+3) over PITTSBURGHPittsburgh is giving up 90.7 yards per game to opposing No. 1 receivers. Julio Jones is this week’s opposing No. 1 receiver. The Steelers haven’t been able to do much to stop opposing offenses and the Falcons offense finally looks like it’s clicking, despite the 1-3 record. Atlanta will one one of these shootouts eventually and this could be the week.JETS (-1) over DenverDenver is pretty good in all three phases of the game, while the Jets are among the best at two (defense and special teams) and pretty bad at the other (offense). With the Jets at home and defense so good so far, they should be able to keep this low scoring enough for the offense to take advantage and keep them in the game. Or the defense can take over and score all the points for them. Case Keenum has the second-highest interception rate among quarterbacks this season (highest among current starters — sorry, Sam Bradford). Green Bay (-1) over DETROITGreen Bay will likely be without Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison, but that might not really matter that much. Even if Darius Slay can shut down Davante Adams, the offense can still probably go. The Packers are better than the Lions just about everywhere else on the field. There could be a higher volume of Aaron Jones and Ty Montgomery or Jimmy Graham. The Lions are 22nd or worse covering every skill position.Baltimore (-3) over CLEVELANDBaltimore has arguably the league’s best passing defense — a league-low 4.2 AN/A allowed — and they’ll be getting Jimmy Smith back from a suspension. Baker Mayfield has been fun and the Browns probably should have won in Oakland, but this will be a tough ask for the rookie quarterback and the rest of the Browns offense — mainly the rest of the Browns offense.CAROLINA (-7) over GiantsCarolina is home. Carolina has a good mobile quarterback. The Giants have struggled to stop those. Carolina’s defense hasn’t been what it’s been lately, but the Giants offense hasn’t shown anything to prove they could take advantage of that. CINCINNATI (-6.5) over MiamiCincinnati might be legitimately good, while Miami could be one of those teams that had a good start then fall back to Earth. One place where the Dolphins offense has struggled is keeping Ryan Tannehill upright even while pressure hasn’t been consistent. Tannehill’s sack rate (7.8 percent) is 26th among quarterbacks and the Bengals have one of the deepest and most dangerous pass rushes in the leagues, even if the sacks haven’t gotten there just yet.CHARGERS (-6.5) over OaklandThe Chargers still have one of the league’s best offenses and that’s been enough to get them through games this season. The Raiders offense has been surprisingly above average over the past few weeks, but the Chargers have been significantly better while both defenses have been around the same. With Mike Williams now breaking through in his role, the Chargers have options that can beat any defense across the field and doing that to Oakland’s won’t be a high bar to clear.Arizona (+4) over SAN FRANCISCOJosh Rosen didn’t have great numbers in his debut, but he also didn’t have a bad game. There were some deep dimes that were dropped, but those should inspire optimism going forward. San Francisco has struggled on defense this year and the offense looked poor in C.J. Beathard’s first start whenever George Kittle wasn’t running free. While Arizona’s defensive personnel usage should be questioned — Haason Reddick has played 30 defensive snaps this season — the defense really hasn’t been that bad. This should be a game the Cardinals can at least keep close.Rams (-7) over SEATTLEThere’s nothing any team can do to stop the Rams offense right now. It’s clicking in a rare way. Los Angeles leads the league in yards per drive at 50.1 and the No. 2 team, Kansas City http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/kareem-martin-jersey , is at 41.7 (though the Chiefs are well ahead in points per drive — 3.45 to 3.15). There’s a lot of pieces to like on Seattle’s defense — currently sixth in DVOA — but handling this offense would be a tough task even with Earl Thomas. Then we can take into account the Rams still have a top-10 defense going against a Seahawks offense that’s struggled to do much of anything.Minnesota (+3) over PHILADELPHIABoth of these teams have been disappointing compared to preseason projections. Philadelphia did have to start two games of the non-Super Bowl hero version of Nick Foles, which isn’t easy. Minnesota doesn’t really have an excuse. Both of these teams should be better than they’re currently playing — Minnesota is just 25th in DVOA — or maybe we just get a disappointing dud on Sunday. Either way, it could be close.Dallas (+3.5) over HOUSTONHouston continues to look better than its 1-3 record, but at the same time, should they be favored by 3.5 points over anyone? Dallas has been able to pull through some ugly games and Houston feels like they almost want to play ugly by choice, for no reason at all. Houston should handle this game, but I just don’t trust Bill O’Brien to make that happen.Washington (+6.5) over NEW ORLEANSWashington is a sneaky good team. They’ve only played three games because Week 4 byes are a thing for some reason, but they’re seventh in yards per drive and 13th in points per drive on offense and fifth in yards allowed per drive and fourth in points allowed per drive on defense. If Cincinnati doesn’t have the most underrated pass rush in the league, Washington does. The Saints are good, but might not be the world beaters most of us thought they’d be coming into the season, especially with a defense that still ranks 29th in DVOA. Last week: 7-6-2Season: 26-33-4 Odell Beckham Jr. isn't satisfied being the NFL's highest-paid receiver. The three-time Pro Bowler for the New York Giants wants much more than the $95 million deal the team agreed to pay him Monday. The 25-year-old wants to be one of the best to play in the NFL."Like I said, before I was even in the NFL, I wanted to be legendary," Beckham said Tuesday. "Yeah, the money is great, you can take care of your family, you can take care of kids one day that you'll possibly have. But my goal was always to be in the Hall of Fame, to win trophies, to be able to leave a legacy that will be remembered way past any money that you make."In a wide-ranging interview, Beckham said the broken left ankle that sidelined him most of last season might have been the best thing to ever happen to him. It forced him to struggle to get back on the field and helped him mature after many slipups off the field. That new-found maturity and his willingness to work while his contract issues were being settled went a long way in convincing co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch to open up the vault for Beckham."I think he's matured quite a bit," Mara said after practice. "I think that stuff hopefully is in the past. I think he's ready to go on and be the type of player and citizen that we expect him to be, and I think he will be."Beckham, who was in the final year of his rookie contract, never doubted a new deal would be done before the start of the season.Mara also said reports that the Giants were listening to trade offers for Beckham in the offseason were blown out of proportion. He said it would have been irresponsible not to listen."There was always an intention that he'd be a part of this team http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/aldrick-rosas-jersey ," Mara said. The major concern was his ankle. The owners wanted to make sure he was fully recovered from the Oct. 8 injury that limited him to four games. After watching him practice against the Detroit Lions in mid-August, Mara knew the 2014 first-round pick was ready and a deal had to be reached before the start of the season on Sept. 9 at home against Jacksonville."It's not like it's going to change the way that I want to play and the way that I want to perform," Beckham said of the contract which includes a $20 million signing bonus and $65 million in guaranteed money.Beckham said he stayed away from the negotiations, letting his agent Zeke Sandu and the Giants' hierarchy handle the talks."It just was a matter of when," he said. "I knew that I was already taken care of before this happened, and like I said, I was just happy that it happened."What Beckham has done in his first four seasons is remarkable. He has 313 catches for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns in 47 games. He is already tied for second among all-time Giants' receivers with three 1,000-yard seasons."You kind of dream about this moment all your life," Beckham said. "In fact, you've dedicated everything, you sacrifice weekends, your parents have sacrificed weekend after weekend traveling, doing this and that just to be able to get to this point, so it is a relief. It's a wonderful opportunity for myself and my family."There were many who worried about Beckham because of his off-the-field problems. After the Giants made the playoffs in 2016, Beckham went to Florida with a number of fellow receivers and took a boat trip.It did not go over well and it hurt Beckham when he played poorly against the Packers. His reputation took another hit when a video was posted with him in a room where a hand-rolled cigarette was visible.Beckham is not proud of those things."It wasn't the best thing to happen to me to date, but what I got to learn and take and grow from, was everything that I needed in my life and now I'm able to take that and keep going forward and just be the best me that I can be," he said.Giants coach Pat Shurmur has been cautious with Beckham in the preseason. He has not played in any of the three games, and it is unlikely he will see action in the finale at home against New England on Thursday."There's no doubt in my mind he'll be ready to go against Jacksonville," Shurmur added.

He said his energy is 100% focused on being part of the solution in Arizona, and is focused on this week’s game against the 49ers.The NFL is fast approaching the halfway point of the 2018 regular season http://www.sanfrancisco49ersteamonline.com/ahkello-witherspoon-jersey , and that means the trade deadline is just around the corner. We’ve already seen a pair of notable deals, and plenty more could be coming between now and the October 30th deadline. The New York Giants and Oakland Raiders are the two teams to watch, as both have been active a week out from the deadline. On October 23rd, the Raiders traded wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a first round pick. On October 24th, the Giants traded cornerback Eli Apple to the New Orleans Saints for a 2019 fourth round pick and a 2020 seventh round pick. The dealing got started last Friday when Carlos Hyde was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. We can now add a new deal to the mix. The Giants are trading defensive tackle Damon Harrison to the Detroit Lions for a fifth round pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Giants seem to realize they stink and are set to build for the future. The San Francisco 49ers could be both a buyer and a seller at this point. They are a seller for 2018, but they might find a deal for a young player worth considering in their rebuilding process. I would not be surprised to see them deal a veteran or two for a late round draft pick, as Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch have been quick to pull the trigger when they’re ready to make a deal. We’ll have standalone posts for notable rumors and news, but we’ll track everything in here. The San Francisco 49ers have been preparing for the New York Giants on a Monday Night Football contest, but they are still talking about Nick Mullens’ near-record setting performance last Thursday to start his career. Cornerback Richard Sherman had some kind words to say on Monday from his Officialize page about how Mullens would be trying to dice them up at practice and just how hard the quarterback practiced in general. Wide receiver Pierre Gar莽on also chimed in from his Officialize page on about how Mullens’ play didn’t surprise him: One of the things that may have been concerning when Mullens began to take over the 49ers would be how the locker room would perceive everything in a possible controversy. C.J. Beathard had the respect of the locker room for his toughness, so moving Mullens in could damage the locker room in the same way Jim Harbaugh switching Alex Smith out for Colin Kaepernick damaged that locker room. Jennifer Lee Chan caught up with some 49ers about the “controversy” and apparently there isn’t anything dividing them. Ahkello Witherspoon said it best:I said it once and I’ll say it again. This locker room is something John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan got right.

Juice Check: Week 5 vs. Cardinals When injuries mount

Erstellt 10.01.2019 07:17 von linhui95 10.01.2019 07:17 In der Kategorie Investments.

San Francisco 49ers Hoodie , football guys say “Next Man Up.” For San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk, the Arizona Cardinals game was more like “Last Man Standing.” Besides Jerick McKinnon and Jimmy Garoppolo’s season-ending injuries, Marquise Goodwin and Dante Pettis were injured-inactive, Matt Breida had to leave after 13 snaps, and backup RB Raheem Mostert came down with a bad case of fumbleitis. That skill-player-deprived offense then had to play 98 snaps, the most for any NFL team in five years, due to the deadly combination of a strong running game and five turnovers. It was an offensive treadmill that never lead anywhere, like one of those dreams where you run and run forever and never get away from the monster (who is Chandler Jones, in this case). The result was a huge game for Juice, who played 68 snaps — a whole game’s worth most weeks, but only 70% of the Niner’s offensive marathon this time. He was targeted seven times Youth Customized San Francisco 49ers Jerseys , catching six for 75 yards, and even had an ultra-rare run for 12 yards. To top it all off, he shed a blocker and tackled Tre Boston after that safety intercepted a pass. He’ll be at least as needed Monday night against Green Bay, since four key skill players missed practice Friday due to injury: Matt Brieda, Pierre Gar莽on, Dante Pettis, and Trent Taylor (plus McKinnon of course). Star TE Kittle and 3/5 of the offensive line were limited in practice. At this rate, Juszczyk will be the leading receiver AND rusher. To be fair, the versatile FB was clearly a big part of Kyle Shanahan’s screen-heavy opening script, long before the in-game injuries and turnovers changed the tenor of the game. Twice on the first drive, he made an initial feint at a pass protection block www.49ersauthorizedshops.com , then turned around for a screen — and a big gain. The first play gained 16 yards.Better yet, Shanahancame right back 3 plays later with the exact same play — for 26 yards down to the two-yard line.I’m always amazed at how Shanahan finds a way in every single game to show formations not previously seen during the season. Last Sunday, Juszczyk generally lined up alongside the QB, not behind the tackle as before but in between the tackle and guard, on either side. He also ran a couple of plays where the FB lined up on the right wing or wide right, and then motioned back into I-formation. That’s a new one.Let’s not forget the excellent blocking job that Juszczyk continues to do in the running game. He’s a key reason for these long runs that Breida keeps breaking off, as Juice excels in getting to the second level defender, and Breida has excellent timing to hit the hole his FB just created at the perfect time. A lot of RBs do that on the line — that’s their job — but Juice and Breida are great at doing it a bit further downfield or running outside. On Breida’s first big run, a 17-yard pickup, watch how Juszczyk submarines defensive end Chandler Jones (55) keeping the speedy running back inches away from the DE’s grasp. With the offensive line starting to show run-game dominance, the fullback running a little and Breida working on his receiving San Francisco 49ers Womens T-Shirt , it’s tempting to dream of a healthy Niners squad running a 3-back formation with, say, McKinnon, Breida and Juszczyk — any of whom could run or go deep. Does a defense stay in base, leaving potentially 3 linebackers covering these potential receivers? Or go nickel, and face two explosive runners with a lead fullback? That’s a tough choice. I’d love to see them have to make it.Najee Toran expected to start at right guard on Sunday The San Francisco 49ers will send out their fourth right guard of the season on Sunday when they host the Detroit Lions. On Thursday afternoon during a KNBR interview, head coach Kyle Shanahan said on KNBR that rookie guard Najee Toran will get the start barring big recoveries from Mike Person and Joshua Garnett.Person and Garnett both suffered foot injuries in Week 1, and that resulted in rookie tackle Mike McGlinchey moving inside to guard for the first time since he was a kid. The team promoted Toran from the practice squad early in the week, which suggested at least one of Person or Garnett was unlikely to play on Sunday. If both Person and Garnett are inactive, Matt Tobin likely becomes the primary backup to Toran. Garry Gilliam remains the swing tackle behind McGlinchey and Joe Staley. The 49ers will release their final injury report on Friday afternoon.

Jimmy Garoppolo injured in wild loss to Chiefs

Erstellt 10.01.2019 06:53 von linhui95 10.01.2019 06:53 In der Kategorie Investments.

The San Francisco 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-27 in a game that offered a swing all along the rollercoaster of emotions — and the loss was far from the bad news of the day. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter and was taken to the back on a trainer cart. He was working for extra yards on 3rd and goal Authentic Richard Sherman Jersey , and lowered his shoulder on this hit. Initially what seemed to be a shoulder injury turned out to be a knee injury. The 49ers mounted a comeback against the Chiefs, and looked like they might be able to cut the lead to one score. Instead, the injury happened, and 49ers fans have their fingers crossed heading into Week 4.This game was a roller coaster of emotions for 49ers fans. Both sides of the ball were a mess in the first half. The offense couldn’t get anything going thanks to drops and penalties. The defense had numerous opportunities to short-circuit some of the Chiefs drives, only to blow it repeatedly on third down. There were two separate 3rd and 15+ plays where the 49ers defense managed to blow it. The Chiefs scored touchdowns on their first five drives and led 35-10 at the half. The 49ers did not give up in this one, and while it came up short, it was a valiant effort. They put up back-to-back touchdowns in the third quarter, and had the ball driving to cut the lead to a touchdown. Instead, the drive ended with Jimmy Garoppolo getting hurt, and then Kyle Juszczyk called for a bogus offensive pass interference call on what should have been a touchdown pass from C.J. Beathard.Up next: @ Los Angeles ChargersThe 49ers face a tough Chargers squad, but the big question for now remains Jimmy Garoppolo’s left knee. It’s pins and needles for the next few days. There was a play midway through the Kansas City Chiefs' 38-27 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in which Patrick Mahomes eluded the pass rush, rolled out to his right and flipped a short, simple pass to running back Kareem Hunt in the flat.He had at least two other wide receivers wide open Womens Mike McGlinchey Jersey , too.Such is the nature of the Kansas City offense through the first three weeks of the season, and the challenge it has presented to a trio of defenses.Even if they manage to contain one target, or even two or three, Mahomes always seems to have somebody else wide open downfield."It's hard for teams to play every single one of them," Mahomes said Sunday night. "I know if I get through my reads there will be someone open. With the offensive line blocking so well, I can sit in the pocket and get through my whole entire read and find the open guy."That was once again evident against the 49ers, when Mahomes targeted 11 different receivers and connected with nine.Travis Kelce led the way with eight catches for 114 yards, his second straight 100-yard performance, and Sammy Watkins hauled in five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown. But the breadth of the Chiefs' options was really apparent in the fact that Mahomes' other two touchdown passes went to No. 3 wide receiver Chris Conley and backup tight end Demetrius Harris.Even little-used wide receiver Marcus Kemp managed a reception."I've never played with an offense that good before," said Tyreek Hill, who had two catches for 51 yards. "Like I was telling Sammy, man, I'm excited to have all these weapons on the team. It's amazing Authentic K'Waun Williams Jersey , man, because a defense has got to worry about so many options."It's not just the quantity, though. The Chiefs have quality players at every position, and in most cases they have multiple guys capable of stepping onto the field without missing a beat."Guys everywhere," Mahomes said. "Knowing that I have those weapons, whenever someone has to get a break 鈥?we say if you're tired, get a break, because I know I can trust the next guy coming in."That's hardly a luxury most teams experience. Then there's the variety of talent.Kelce is one of the league's best tight ends, a capable blocker whose soft hands allowed him to spear a high throw on Sunday that few others could catch. And when he gets into the open field, just ask 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster how difficult it is to bring him down.On the outside are Watkins and Hill, giving the Chiefs not only two of the fastest playmakers in the league, but also two of the most sure-handed.Yes, Hill only had two catches against San Francisco Authentic Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey , but one was a leaping grab deep downfield between two defenders in tight coverage, while Watkins made his mark by catching slant routes in traffic and making guys miss.Indeed, his touchdown grab Sunday looked as if someone was running a gauntlet. When defenses finally try nickel and dime packages to cover the downfield threats, the Chiefs merely have the reigning NFL rushing champion in Hunt ready to handle the ball.He finally got into the end zone Sunday for his first two touchdowns this season."Coach (Andy) Reid has done an unbelievable job of creating these plays," Kelce said. "Right now we're just dialing them up and going out there and executing what's called. It's as simple as that. Not every single play is going to have one certain guy and that's the fun of it."It hasn't been much fun for opposing defenses."We have to do a little better in the second half," offensive lineman Mitch Schwartz said Sunday, "but we had nine possessions. Five touchdowns and a field goal. That's pretty good."Notes: Reid said Monday that he's comfortable with the Chiefs' pass rush heading into Monday night against Denver, even though outside linebacker Dee Ford hurt his groin against the 49ers. "I think we'll be fine there if (Ford is unavailable)," Reid said. "I know he was sore yesterday. For him to come out of a game is never a good thing. We'll see how he does here, but I'm glad we've had an opportunity to play those guys and give them a little experience here."
